Deanery Synod report
Deanery Synod on 6 November was at St Jerome School, and we were treated to orchestral worship, led by some of the 50 strong school orchestra, playing and singing for us in English and French.
The headteacher asked us to remember our local schools in prayer, as the educational landscape remains difficult. However, volunteering and other support for example serving in the governing body is also hugely helpful. Also if anyone could rent a room to junior/ newly qualified teachers please let your schools know!
A panel of youth and children experts answered lots of questions about youth and children’s work in our communities. One suggesting that we could offer seasonal activities.
Think about whether we look like somewhere that families want to be? Can people outside see life in our church? How easily can they connect with us? Is it welcoming?
A suggestion to take church occasional services in our local schools.
Invest in the young people - other family members may follow - but they are also important in their own right.
Is our aim to get people in church or show them Gods love?
We need to go to where people are / have need.
Keep track of the trends on social media so you can speak to where kids are at.
Also looking to invite Willesden children and families worker advisor to our PCC in the new year.
